I thought the spirit POV shots were well executed. It was a good way to flesh out this literally fleshless character without falling back on the standard see-through sheet looking apparition images so ubiquitously employed for such roles. And Rachel Hurd-Wood—Brilliant!

She was great in Peter Pan, a movie which has attracted much praise and attention within circles of “art film” enthusiasts. She brings the same innocence to Betsy Bell as she did to Wendy, an innocence which seems to be the essential quality we refer to when we refer to childhood, an innocence so organic and uncontrived in this young actress that its powerful effects seemingly shouldn’t be credited to her—she can’t help but bring that quality to her roles—and for this role, that quality is pitch-perfect, it’s what made me take an emotional stake in the tale, what made me care, so that the fears inspired most deeply within me by this film were engendered by the prospect of such an innocent girl being ravaged by something so atrocious and evil.
